Plans Are Afoot

There are Big Plans underway at the Metaphysics of Love Project!

Most of the news is still under wraps for the time being, but I can tell you one exciting snippet: there will be a second Project Workshop this December, involving both philosophers and poets. More details soon.

Meanwhile, my book What Love Is And What It Could Be is complete, and moving into production. I'm told it might be available to pre-order as early as this summer, so stay tuned. If you can't wait until then, I wrote a short summary of what it's all about.

I'm also currently working on a really exciting team project, with philosophers Natalia Washington and Chapman Waters and social scientist Nick Fitz. We are collecting empirical data to learn more about attitudes to love: what people think love is, how they think it works, etc. We'll also be looking at whether these attitudes to love vary by gender, age, orientation, or other factors. It's still very early days for this project, but our initial forays suggest that the results are going to be super fascinating.

Last (for now) but not least, my co-authored paper with project research assistants Jasper Heaton and Aida Roige Mas is making progress, and we hope to post a draft soon. This paper is about how popular music is contributing to the social construction of romantic love. (Spoiler: substantially, and not entirely healthily ... )
